The vente-privee.com concept is the organisation of designer brand sales events over a limited period of time (typically 2-3 days), available to invite-only members.
Registration with www.vente-privee.com is free of charge and does not entail an obligation to buy. To register you must be referred by an existing member. 48 hours before a sale takes place, an invitation email is sent to all vente-privee.com members. Sales usually start at 6 am GMT on weekdays, and 8 am GMT on weekends, and last for 2 to 3 days. When a sale has ended vente-privee.com places an order with the brand partner. When delivered, this is packed, labelled and delivered to members who participated in the sale. Members are also able to cancel their orders or return items, depending on local laws.

From Wikipedia. Dan Ariely is the James B. Duke Professor of Behavioral Economics at Duke University. He also holds an appointment at the MIT Media Lab where he is the head of the eRationality research group. He was formerly the Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Behavioral Economics at MIT Sloan School of Management.
Dan Ariely was born in New York but grew up in Israel. As a teenager he suffered third-degree burns over 70 percent of his body from an accidental magnesium flare explosion.[1]
Ariely recovered and went on to graduate from Tel Aviv University (B.A. in psychology) and received an M.A. and Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Ph.D. in business from Duke University. His research focuses on discovering and measuring how people make decisions. He models the human decision making process and in particular the irrational decisions that we all make every day.
Ariely is the author of the book, Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decisions, which was published on February 19, 2008 by HarperCollins. When asked whether reading Predictably Irrational and understanding one's irrational behaviors could make a person's life worse (such as by defeating the benefits of a placebo), Ariely responded that there could be a short term cost, but that there would also likely be longterm benefits, and that reading his book would not make a person worse off.[2]

Esther Dyson (born 14 July 1951, Zürich, Switzerland) is a journalist and commentator on emerging digital technology, a founding member of the digerati, an entrepreneur, and a philanthropist.
On 7 October 2008, Space Adventures announced that Dyson had paid to train as a back-up spaceflight participant for Charles Simonyi's trip to the International Space Station aboard the Soyuz TMA-14 mission scheduled for 2009.

Hubert Burda, (born 9 February 1940 in Heidelberg) is a German art historian and publisher. Hubert Burda is CEO and owner of Hubert Burda Media, publishing more than 250 magazines inside and outside Germany (including Focus and Bunte)
He is the youngest of the three sons of Franz and Aenne Burda and is married to Maria Furtwängler.
Burda studied History of Art and Sociology at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich [1].
He is President of the Association of German Magazine Publishers (VDZ) and cofounder of the European Publishers Council (EPC) as well as Council Member of the World Economic Forum (WEF). His commitment to cultural endeavours includes the Hermann Lenz Award for German lyrics, formerly the Petrarca Prize, which was first awarded in 1975.
He is chairman of the Council of the Munich Ludwig-Maximilians-University, and founded the Hubert Burda Centre for Innovative Communications at the Ben-Gurion University in Beer Sheva, Israel.
